Two amazing books to celebrate spring! “Team Lily,” comprised of five Brookgreen Gardens volunteers, has assembled a chronicle of the introduction to Brookgreen Gardens of the Giant Water Lily in a passionate narrative illustrated by scores of photographs. The night-blooming phenomenon of foot-long blooms and leaf platters capable of supporting a child will be on display from May through November and featured during Brookgreen’s Summer Lights. PLUS, “An absolute treasure of a book!” (Josephine Humphreys, author of Rich in Love). With Hurteau’s luminous photographs and Baldwin's front porch rocker commentary, the best of both worlds is yours for the browsing. For three decades with the SC Ports Authority of Charleston, the last seven years of which she served as staff photographer, English had access to visual treasures which she has captured and forever claimed as her own, and as the rightful heir to Rutledge's state poet laureateship, Billy never fails to find the right word/note/tone, exactly as one would expect of an award-winning novelist, poet, photographer, biographer, and historian.
