A Letter to Our Customers about the Trade Policy

To Our Wonderful Customers,

If you’ve ever wandered into our bathroom, peeked behind the scenes, or spotted books stacked where books probably shouldn’t be stacked (see photos below for reference), you already know this: we really, really love books!!! And we really love being a new & used bookstore, which is only made possible by your support.

That love has led to something wonderful and, unfortunately at times, a little overwhelming. Over time, we’ve built up a lot of store credit (like a lot, a lot), and while credit is magical for book buying, it turns out our landlord, our utilities, and our payroll all stubbornly refuse to accept it.

So, with care, transparency, and a deep breath, we’re making a small change to help keep our doors open. To ride the coattails of Tax Day, beginning April 15, 2026, book trades will move from store credit to coupons for 20% off any used books.

For select genres and titles on our Most Wanted list, we’ll continue taking your generous donations, they will just be exchanged for a coupon rather than in-store credit. If you are not sure about what genres, titles, or authors we are taking, please take a look at our trade guidelines!

We know change can feel hard. Please know this one comes from a place of care and love, for our shop, our staff, and this community we adore. Thank you for sticking with us, for loving books, and for helping keep this little bookstore dream alive.
