There's something pretty wonderful about our little bookstore in Pawleys Island.
The happiness.
We're not exaggerating when we say that 999 out of every 1,000 people who walk through our doors arrive smiling.
Maybe it’s because they live in this beautiful place. Maybe they're on vacation. Maybe they're treating themselves to a new book. Maybe they're looking for the perfect gift for someone they love. Or maybe there's just something about walking into a bookstore that makes the world feel a little brighter.
Whatever the reason, they're happy to be here. And the best part? We get to be part of that happiness.
We get to chat with them, help them discover a wonderful book, find just the right gift, or surprise them with a little something extra. A cookie. A bookmark. A small gesture that says, "We're so glad you stopped in."
And somehow, they almost always leave even happier than they arrived.
That's the magic of My Sister's Books & Gifts.
It's not just the books. It's not just the gifts. It's the happiness that lives between the shelves.
And speaking personally, I've never loved working anywhere more than I love working here.
Not because running an independent bookstore is easy. It isn't ~ even with a stellar team. But because every day, we get to be a little part of something good in people's lives.
And in a world that could use more happiness, we think that's worth holding onto.
NOW, WE WANT TO MAKE ROOM FOR MORE
More children's story times where little imaginations take flight. More book clubs where strangers become friends. More local authors and artisans sharing their talents and gifts. More family game days, cookie decorating, creative workshops, and book bedazzling. More laughter. More memories. More reasons to gather. And quite possibly a few doggone, delicious (hint! hint!) surprises to go with the books!
We have some exciting ideas about what My Sister's Books & Gifts could become, and we're already taking steps to make them possible. We're clearing out stale inventory, rethinking how we use our space, and exploring new ways to make MSB&G an even more welcoming destination where community, stories and smiles meet.

Like many independent small businesses, we're navigating rising expenses, changing shopping habits, and some very real financial challenges. We know that if we want this little bookstore to have a long and happy future, we need to evolve. And making meaningful changes takes resources.
THAT'S WHY WE'RE ASKING FOR YOUR HELP
We're launching our $27,000 Happiness Lives Here campaign to help strengthen the bookstore's financial foundation, support operations while we make changes, and begin creating more opportunities for people to connect, celebrate, and make memories. We also hope to create more local jobs.
We're approaching the future thoughtfully, creatively, and with a whole lot of determination, and we hope you will help us make it happen.
