We’re Lookin’ for Some Good Cookin’

There’s two things most people probably agree on:

  • Nothing beats home cooking.

  • We don’t eat nearly enough of it.

That’s no shade on our area’s array of amazing eateries, but sometimes we just don’t want to go out or order delivery. Sometimes we just long to be enchanted by the scent of sauce simmering on the stove, the enticing aroma of lovingly-marinated ribs on the smoker or savoring a slice of imperfectly frosted homemade cake.

Food is rarely just about food. It’s about the feeling of family. Gathering for a meal. Giving thanks and praise for our blessings. Laughing. Telling stories. Even if it means, having to hand-wash Aunt Lilee-Sue’s delicate china. Making memories that last a lifetime.

So if you’ve got a recipe that gets raves and care to share, My Sister’s Books is publishing a special community cookbook. Special because it will be truly local flavors and because a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Family Justice Center.

We’re looking for the best of the best from cornbread to tacos to salad dressings to crabcakes and everything before, during, and after. Customers can enter online or come into our store during regular business hours to pick up a submission packet.
